The Momento Magico pulls from two directions at once: the ancient and the modern.
Look at the central band and you'll spot fretwork borrowed from Geometric Art, the decorative style of that stretch of artistic awakening. Leonardo chose five special resins for this writing instrument and trimmed it in metals that point back to the same era. Colours in the materials came out of the Rossellini film and the moments inside it.
Millefiori means a thousand flowers, and it's also the Murano glassmaking technique those glassmakers are known for. Leonardo picked this resin as a way of imagining fall flowers through that same craft.
