Product Details

Prussian Blue is the newest finish in the Custom Urushi line. Pilot builds this pen around an 18-karat gold two-tone #30 nib with rhodium detailing, then coats the barrel in Urushi lacquer, layered,
cured and polished until the surface holds a deep shine.

The Japanese word for the shade is 紺青 (kon-jo), which means dark blue and is usually rendered as Prussian blue in English. Nailing that exact tone is the difficult part: pigments have to be blended into natural Urushi lacquer with real precision, and the payoff is a rich, vibrant blue rather than a flat one.
