Kaweco's Piston Sport AL series gains a deep Bordeaux version, and this starter set pairs it with the ink you need on day one. The body is anodized aluminum in burgundy, finished with gold accents that keep the look classic.
A gold-plated steel nib comes in five sizes — EF, F, M, B and BB — and the 190 nib units swap out easily if your taste changes. Ink travels through a piston-filling mechanism, so refills stay steady and clean.
Open, the pen measures 13 cm; capped, it's 10.5 cm. Weight is 22 grams. The screw cap guards the nib while the pen rides in a bag or pocket.
Inside the box you get the fountain pen, a 32ml bottle of Royal Blue Kaweco ink and an instruction manual. Good starting point for a new pen user, and a tidy gift for someone already into fountain pens.
