One fluid handles several jobs: Van Dieman's Fountain Pen Ink Diluter and Rehydrator desaturates heavily saturated inks, lightens dark tones, and brings thick, low-volume ink back after evaporation.
Why use a Diluter?
Plain water shifts an ink's pH, surface tension and viscosity, and that changes both how it writes and how it flows. Hue can shift too, since many inks rely on a particular pH for their dye. This product is custom made to match the chemical and physical properties of a high-quality fountain pen ink. Flow improves, feathering and bleed through are kept in check, dye vibrancy holds up, and a powerful broad-spectrum anti-microbial lengthens the life of fountain pen and dip pen inks alike.

For ink dilution
Boil a small bottle and lid in water to clean them, then let them air dry. With the included pipette, draw out 10ml of your chosen ink and put it in the spare bottle. Rinse the pipette, then add diluter a few mls at a time, stirring and swatching after each addition until you reach the saturation you want.
For dehydrated ink
Fill the included pipette and add diluter to your chosen ink a few mls at a time. Stir and swatch after each addition, and stop when the desired saturation is reached.
