Long summer days at Virginia Beach and drives around the Chesapeake Bay gave me some of my favourite childhood memories. Once the sun slipped below the horizon, the water threw back shades of violet, blue and pink, and for a few minutes the whole world felt quieter. That feeling stayed with me.
Chesapeake at Twilight grew out of those evenings.
It opens as a rich, moody purple, borrowed from that short hour between day and night. Soft blue and pink undertones surface as the ink dries, shifting with the light and the angle of the page.
