At a glance the Rembrandt Classic in Black looks plain. Look closer and the black resin shows faint chiaroscuro variation, painted-in shading that shifts with the light, which is the whole Rembrandt idea in a pen. Silver-toned trim and a polished stainless steel nib finish the picture.

That spring-loaded bridge clip takes its cue from Florence's Ponte Vecchio, and it works as well as it looks. Capping is magnetic, no threading involved, so you get a firm snap each time and a clean barrel while you write. Nib widths run fine, medium or broad. For ink, drop in standard international cartridges or load the included converter with bottled ink.
