Cartridge or converter — the Parker IM Grey Core fountain pen takes either route to ink, and the stainless steel nib is the part your hand notices first. Gold PVD coating on the clip and brass trims sits against grey lacquer on the stainless steel cap and barrel.

Its tapered profile narrows toward the writing end, shifting the feel forward into your fingers. The snap cap comes off with a short pull and clicks back into place afterwards.

For a first fountain pen or a second one kept at the office, that combination of familiar shape and straightforward filling is hard to argue with.
