Ilość:
In Japanese, the characters for Izumo describe clouds climbing toward the sky. Fitting, since this Platinum line takes its name from a region where the gods are said to gather each year — and where Washi paper has been made for centuries.
Five finishes make up the collection:
- Tagayasan Matte Finish (Bombay Black Wood - Matte)
- Tagayasan Gloss Finish ((Bombay Black Wood - Gloss)
- Soratame (Green)
- Akatame (Red)
- Biwatame (Tan)
Tagayasan means something close to "as hard as a sword of iron." The wood gets dried for 20 days to drive out moisture before craftsmen shape and grind each part by hand, then seal it with a urethane coating over the blackwood cap and body. Warm in the hand, and hard to mistake for plastic.
The Tamenuri Soratame, Akatame and Biwatame versions pair an ebonite body and cap with an Urushi lacquer Tamenuri finish. Urushi gets richer with the years, which is why the URUSHI is built to pass down rather than wear out. Ships in an elegant gift box.
