Kilk × @pensandturquoisebrown Orion Füllfederhalter

"Orion, huge of limb, who dared to say he could withstand the arrows of Diana." -Ovid, Metamorphoses, Book XIII

The genesis of Orion emerged during the last quarter of last year—a personal time of introspection and renewal as we stepped into a new odyssey. As I gazed into the deep indigo night sky, there he was: Orion, the celestial hunter—radiant and powerful—watching over us with a steady presence. His gaze felt like a gentle yet firm reminder to embrace life’s challenges and find resilience within oneself. It felt only natural to dedicate my first pen of the year to this enduring emblem of strength and grace.

The barrel, inspired by the Orion Nebula, captures the essence of a stunning celestial cloud of gas and dust. It glows with deep indigos and midnight blues, where scattered starlight and ionized oxygen create a mystical radiance. Soft greens from oxygen emissions blend seamlessly into the cosmic expanse, while brilliant whites from the Trapezium Cluster illuminate the swirling gas at its heart. Faint yellows, reflecting off distant dust, complete the celestial masterpiece.

The band pays homage to Orion’s Greek origins—his shield, symbolizing strength and protection, and his arrow, a nod to Artemis, his hunting companion.

As you write with the Orion fountain pen, may you be reminded of how Zeus immortalized a mortal among the stars despite his flaws. Whether crafting prose, devising strategies, or penning lyrical reflections, may every mark you make be as daring and resolute as the mythical hunter it represents.

Introducing Orion, a pen designed by @pensandturquoisebrown in a blank created by Jonathon Brooks of Carolina Pen Company and beautifully showcased on the masterfully crafted Epigram design by Kilk.

The Kilk Orion fountain pen, crafted from Brooks resin, stands out for its remarkable uniqueness—not only in its design but also in the resin itself, which varies significantly from one pen to another. Each pen is shaped from a different piece of resin, resulting in distinct color patterns and variations. To showcase this diversity, we've photographed six pens that best highlight the wide range of appearances.

JB Pen Blanks Maintenance: To remove stubborn ink stains from pens, Jonathon of Carolina Pen recommends using Rapido Eze. This powerful cleaner is safe on all plastics and effectively dissolves ink buildup in hard-to-reach areas, including threads and crevices. Simply soak your pen in a concentrated solution for about 10 minutes using an ultrasonic cleaner, and watch the stains disappear. A quick rinse with water leaves your pen looking like new.
