Conklin fyldepen – 1898 Spectra Fusion White (14K guld) – Limited Edition (2025)

The Conklin® 1898 Spectra Fusion Collection represents a masterful blend of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge materials science—where the beauty of nature meets modern engineering. At the heart of this collection lies stabilized wood, a specially treated wood infused with epoxy to significantly enhance its durability, aesthetic appeal, and workability. Through a meticulous process involving drying, vacuum pressure infusion, and curing, the stabilizing agent deeply penetrates the wood fibers, filling pores and voids. Once hardened, the epoxy transforms the wood into a medium that resists warping, cracking, and moisture, while showcasing a smooth, polished finish. This process not only preserves the natural grain and color but also elevates them, making stabilized wood ideal for applications requiring both beauty and strength—such as luxury pen making.

Each Spectra Fusion pen begins with professionally stabilized maple burl, chosen for its intricate grain patterns and unique character. The stabilization process results in a wood that is hard, dense, and resistant to environmental stresses. On its own, this stabilized burl would already be suitable for precision work and detailed carving, capable of holding fine edges and showcasing vibrant hues.

However, the Spectra Fusion Collection takes innovation a step further by fusing the stabilized wood with hand-poured epoxy resin. This fusion creates a hybrid material that is both structurally superior and visually dynamic. The epoxy—pigmented, layered, or swirled—is poured to enhance and interact with the wood’s natural figure, filling voids and creating translucent layers with jewel-like depth. The use of vacuum-degassing ensures the epoxy is free of bubbles and achieves a flawless bond with the stabilized wood. Once cured, this hybrid is even stronger than stabilized wood alone, offering added structural integrity while preserving the tactile warmth of genuine timber.

The result is a writing instrument that is not only aesthetically breathtaking but also mechanically robust. Stabilized wood contributes density and resistance to wear, while the epoxy reinforces structural weaknesses and adds rigidity. This makes Spectra Fusion pens capable of withstanding daily handling, environmental changes, and moisture exposure without compromising their visual or functional qualities.

Design-wise, Spectra Fusion retains Conklin’s signature features: the classic cigar-shaped silhouette, engraved cap ring, and crescent-shaped clip that pay homage to the company’s 1898 legacy and iconic Crescent-Filler™ system.

The Conklin 1898 Spectra Fusion White (14K Gold) is a stunning limited edition fountain pen that captivates with its striking aesthetic. This exclusive 2025 release showcases a beautiful marriage of pristine white epoxy and natural wood warmth, creating a one-of-a-kind visual experience with its enchanting translucency and dynamic color play. Elegant polished silver accents elevate its sophisticated appeal, making it a true collector's piece. Designed for both convenience and performance, it works with standard ink cartridges or the included threaded converter for easy refilling. Each pen is meticulously crafted with a precision-engineered nib and plasma-treated feeder, delivering consistently smooth writing and exceptional control that makes every stroke a pleasure.

Limited to 1,898 pieces per color, each Spectra Fusion pen is presented in a luxury Conklin gift box with a custom sleeve, underscoring its exclusivity and collectability. The collection stands as a testament to Conklin’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and design—where stabilized wood and epoxy resin unite to form pens that are as functional as they are extraordinary.
