Menge:
Water lilies and swimming turtles wrap this Yukari, and none of it is printed. Maki-e artisans hand-build the scene in Togidashi-Taka Maki-e and Raden over a black Urushi lacquer base, which is why the turtles catch the light differently each time the pen turns in your hand.
The motif carries meaning too, since turtles stand for longevity and good fortune. Practicality isn't sacrificed for the artwork. You get an 18-karat solid gold bi-color nib, and you choose Fine, Medium or Broad when ordering. A screw cap closes it, and the cartridge/converter filling system keeps refills quick.
