The Good and Bad Places

Dystopia Dys (bad) + topos (place)
n. an imagined state or society in which there is great suffering or injustice, typically one that is totalitarian or post-apocalyptic.

Utopia
Eu (good) -or- Ou (not) + topos (place)n. an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect.

I've heard of this thing called "Target Fixation" in motorsports. They say that under stress, our field of vision narrows, and we fixate on a obstacle — maybe a pothole, curb, or taillights. When this happens, our bodies unconsciously move toward it.

Same goes with pilots. They learn "The Law of the Look", where they must look toward the horizon and visualize the altitude they want to achieve, averting their gazes from the spinning ground below.

In the many crises of our modern era, do we apply this concept?

I look around at the world we have now, where there is war, famine, and disease, brought about by the greed of a lucky few. I look toward the past through the records of our ancestors, preserved in the pages of old books, and I only see more of the same. I look toward the future through the time-windows our artists and writers have created for us, and yet again I see evidence of near-identical despair.

Are we, as a species, really looking toward where we want to go?

The Leonardo Momento Zero Utopia is another @twenty_sides × Leonardo x McKenizie Penworks collaboration. McKenzie Penworks' DiamondCast® resin gives it an elegant blend of greens and whites. Warm gold trims and a smooth stainless steel nib round out the package on Leonardo's Momento Zero model.

Artistic vision meets masterful craftsmanship here, and the design plays with the tension between dystopia and utopia. A premium pen for those who believe in looking toward where they want to go.
